Corporate Social Responsibility
Working towards greater sustainability
We’ve been paying attention to energy consumption and waste recycling at our sites for over 15 years. In 2021 and 2022, we took it a step further by installing solar panels on parking lot shade structures and changing our heating system to one powered by a wood-fired furnace.
In 2023, we established CSR governance arrangements, including appointing CSR Officers in each department who dedicate time to CSR projects in their respective areas. We’ve also structured all our projects and initiatives around three pillars: Planet, People, and Communities.
On this page, we proudly present our completed projects.
PLANET
Reducing the environmental impact of our sites
Limiting energy consumption

We’ve installed solar panels covering an area of 1,268 square meters on parking lot shade structures at our headquarters in Carentoir. These panels were commissioned in March 2024 and generated over 244,000kWh of electricity in 2024, producing enough to power the Carentoir and Rennes sites.
In March 2024, we also changed our heating system, opting for a wood-fired furnace that produces far fewer CO2 emissions than the old oil-fired furnace.
Recycling our waste
We strive to find recycling solutions for waste generated at our sites.
- We’ve partnered with a local firm that makes polystyrene to recycle polystyrene waste from our Carentoir warehouse.
- Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is collected and dismantled by a company that employs people with disabilities.
- Unused items of furniture are passed on to an eco-friendly waste management company that either finds non-profits that want to reuse them, or recycles them.
- Lastly, we work with a local firm to recycle our paper waste. This firm, which also has a significant social impact by employing people who need help returning to the labor market, has educated our CSR Officers about paper sorting procedures.
Improving our circular economy approach to product design

Green product design
To ensure that green design principles are embedded right from the new product development phase, our R&D teams have been trained to assess the environmental impact of our products.
As part of this approach, we conduct life cycle analyses of our products. One product from each of our ranges (racing, flight sim, gamepads and DJing) has been evaluated using the ISO 14040/14044 life cycle analysis methodology. These analyses let us identify the stages in a product’s life cycle that have the greatest environmental impact and what steps we can take to reduce that impact.
As regards product packaging, we’re gradually replacing polystyrene with cardboard, honeycomb, or molded pulp packaging.
Repairing our products
We have four repair centers in France, the United States, China and Australia, covering the needs of consumers in Europe, North America, China and Australia.
Educating consumers about repair options
We currently have two projects in progress focused on extending the life of our products.
- Expanding the information available to consumersThe goal is to help consumers use our products (product setup, configuration, firmware installation, platform compatibility, etc.) and solve problems. We regularly publish new articles to the knowledge base used by our support sites: Hercules – Support site and Thrustmaster – Support site.
- Making parts available through our e-shopsGuillemot Corporation is committed to making more parts available to consumers. We’ve also created repair kits, starting with pedal sets, to help users easily replace components and extend the life of their products.

Recycling
All products returned to us in non-working order are recycled through appropriate channels.
Measuring and reducing our carbon footprint
We’ve been measuring our carbon footprint annually since 2022. This analysis lets us identify key sources of CO2 emissions and take focused action to reduce our carbon footprint.
Freight
We’ve begun to work on reducing carbon emissions arising from product transportation. We prioritize direct deliveries from our Asian platform to our customers, without routing through our intermediate warehouses, which helps reduce the use of road transport. In 2024, direct deliveries accounted for 64% of all shipments.
In addition, we use vessels powered by LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) whenever this option is available. According to the manufacturer of this type of vessel, this energy source emits 20% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than conventional fuel.
Website carbon footprint
After estimating greenhouse gas emissions associated with our websites, we’ve taken a number of steps to reduce their impact, such as reducing image sizes and using lazy loading for images. Lazy loading is where only those images that are visible on a web page are loaded, with further images loaded as and when the user scrolls down the page. These initiatives resulted in a 32% reduction in the average carbon footprint of web pages on our sites between 2022 and 2024.
Climate change awareness

To raise awareness of climate change among our employees, Climate Fresk workshops have been offered to all staff working in our French offices. In 2023, 47% of employees attended such workshops, including all Executive Committee members.
Sustainable Development Week runs every October. Topics covered in recent years include climate change, green design, and sustainable mobility.
PEOPLE
Developing an approach to gender diversity and professional equity.
We’re convinced that a diverse workforce is an asset to the business. Our Human Resources team has always made every effort to eliminate discrimination, both during the hiring process and throughout our employees’ tenure. We’ve opted to formalize these values in an internally distributed Diversity and Inclusion Charter.
While we’re committed to combating all forms of discrimination, our efforts are focused on two areas in particular: disability and gender equality.
Disability
In France, we regularly use sheltered employment organizations employing people with disabilities for services such as maintaining green spaces and packing our products.
In 2024, we took part in DuoDay, a nationwide initiative promoting inclusion for people with disabilities whereby people with disabilities are paired up with employee volunteers for a day. This provided an opportunity for our people to explain what we do, talk about their everyday work and, more generally, expand their view of disability. Eleven duos paired up in 2024, and all participants found the day to have been a positive experience.
Gender equality
In France, we calculate our professional equality index, which aims to measure the pay gap between women and men. This score has improved since 2022.
Encouraging sustainable mobility for our employees
We’ve put in place an internal system to facilitate carpooling both for employee commutes and for journeys between our two sites in France.
Training
Our training policy is aimed at ensuring that employees’ expertise remains in step with developments in the Group’s business lines, notably by implementing a skills development plan.
In 2024, 1,066 hours of training were delivered by outside organizations. In-house training is also provided, including training in tools and methods as part of the induction process or when an employee changes jobs, regular product training for sales staff, refresher safety training, help using software packages, and so on.
COMMUNITIES
Developing opportunities for young people at local schools and universities
We offer various types of work opportunities to enable students to find out about our business during their studies:
- Student jobs in our Technical Support department: seven students in 2024
- Internships and apprenticeships
- Projects undertaken by student groups focusing on a given issue, an example being market research
Our IT department regularly donates computer equipment to Marcel Callo High School in Redon. In 2024, a donation of 55 pieces of equipment was made.
